Which venues are open for the Netball programs?

In Phase 2 the only venues available for SGNA are: - Kallang Netball Centre (Outdoor) - SportsHub OCBC Arena Hall 3 (Indoor) We hope the ISH's of MGS, HGS and TKSS will be available again in Phase 3.

Have all programs re-started?

All programs are conducted with the current limitations of # of players on court and venues, except for the Novice program and most of the adult programs.

Can I watch a program session?

As a parent or non-player, family memebre, firned, etc, your cna not enter the venues. Only players are allowed to enter the venues. You can watch a program session only outside Kallang Netball Centre.

Do you have trial sessions?

For our U6, Novice and Afterschool programs, players can trial for one session. The trial lesson is $30. You have to sign up as coaches need to know who is coming and we do not facilitate random players coming in for one session only. Please let us know after your trial if you want your daughter to continue. For all other programs we do not provide trial classes. Trial classes are very difficult to organize as we need to rent a court and provide coaches. The reality is that we have to decide on a timing that is convenient for everyone where everyone has their own schedule, and no one finally is able to attend the trial classes at the same time.

The option to join a running program for 1 session is not feasible as this will disturb the program continuously, something we want to prevent as the players in the program have the right to get the full attention of the coaches. Our advice is to watch one of the sessions and try at least for 1 term (10 sessions) to find out if you or your daughter likes to play Netball.

You can come and watch a session, please let us know when you are coming to be able inform you about time and venue in case of changes.

Do you have holiday programs?

SGNA organises extra (fun) Netball sesisons in the holiday periods which are conducted on week days in the morning in November and December. These holiday sessions are only available for our regular players. The fee will be deducted from players fee balance. U8 & U10:

We will start our holiday program sessions on 24 November.

Day: Tuesday Morning

Dates: November 24, December 1, 8, 15, 22

Time: 8am - 10am

Venue: Kallang Netball Centre

U12 & Secondary Development:

We will start our holiday program sessions on 4 November.

Day: Wednesday morning

Dates: November 4, 11, 18, 25, December 2, 9, 16, 23

Time: 8am - 10am

Venue: Kallang Netball Centre

What are the cost to join Netball sessions in Phase 2

When a player joins for a session a full-term fee has to be paid, including an attire if the player is new.

Payment structure in this special re-opening situation

The difference in this special re-opening situation is that SGNA cannot guarantee a slot and therefore we will charge only the sessions player has joined. If a player cancels less than 36 hours before the session, the session will still be charged as it will be very difficult for SGNA management to find a replacement. In this special situation there is no possibility to prorate as players can choose every week if they want to join or not without being charged when they do not register. Players who registered but placed on the waitlist will not be charged unless they take a spot due to a cancellation.

SGNA keeps a weekly record of sessions joined by every player for purpose of deducting fees from the term payment and selection of the player.

When we are able to resume the normal programs, the balance can be used for the normal programs.

Normal program payment structure

In the normal situation we have a 10 weeks program and player’s spot is always guaranteed and charged even if a player does not turn up for any reason. Pro-rate fees are in the normal situation possible if you know the sessions the player can not join, dates to be provided before the term starts, with a maximum of 3 sessions.

What are the COVID-19 Phase 2 procedures for the netball sessions?

You can find here the procedures that are in force during phase 2

What are the Phase 2 restrictions for the Netball sessions?

The current restriction for the Netball sessions are:

  • Players train in groups of 5 and 1 coach on 1 court .
  • Groups of 5 are not allowed play against each other.
  • There will be no full court Netball games
  • The session will be mainly individual agility, fitness, ball handling drills, focused on the individual technical skills of a player.
  • There will be specific court play and contact drills, modified to avoid extensive body contact.
  • Limited, 2 vs 3 or 2 v 2 (within the same groups of 5) game play will be part of the sessions.
  • The session is 2 hours but due to all safety measures the court time will be limited to around 1.5 hours.
  • Parents cannot enter the venue and after dropping off, need to leave the area as quickly as possible except for the U6 and U8 groups.
  • U6 and U8 parents can accompany the player to the court but have to leave when the player is settled.
  • Entry is not permitted for those who have not filled in the SGNA declaration 24 hours before the session, or have a temperature of 38 degrees or higher and any person who is unwell, or on Stay Home Notice (SHN) or Quarantined Order.

Do you have slots available for new players?

Yes we have slots available in all programs, you can register on this webiste. Due to the restictions players need to sign up for every session as we have to provide the players information to the venue owners. The weekly available slots can vary due to venue availability. Players will not always sign up and therefore we have a weekly registration procedure in place. In case of over-registration, a waitlist will be created.

How does a player get selected for the upcoming session?

As there is limited space available and we need every spot to be taken by a player. Players who are selected need to show up for training and will be otherwise penalised for leaving a spot open.

The registration will take place in the SGNA WhatsApp chat groups, except for the bigger groups we will have a registration on our website. The registration does not guarantee a spot.

To ensure the right balance of players in one group, coaches will decide on the group arrangement which could lead to a situation that players who had registered will be place on a waitlist. The arrangement is based on the skill level of players and to avoid that for example beginners and advance players are in the same group leading to an insufficient training experience.

The spots are limited, and players must show up for the session or remove themselves at least 48 hours before the session to ensure SGNA management can find a replacement. Waitlisted players need to remove themselves 48 hours before the session if they are not available.

If SGNA management has not received a declaration and/or payment 24 hours before the session, SGNA management will/can decide to remove the player from the registration list and give the spot to another (waitlist) player.

After declaration the registration is final, if the registration is cancelled by the parent or the players does not show up for any reason, the session fee will still be deducted from the payment and in case of no-show 2x the session fee.

Every week coaches will also take into account the number of sessions that players have attended and as much as possible try to ensure that all players have the same court time, however there can be no guarantees given that all players get the same court time during this period.

If players have been given a spot and do not show up during the session will not be granted a spot the next week.

The process of assignment is as follows:

  • Players register in Whatsapp groups or online, players registration will be open for at least 24 hours.
  • Assignment rules:
    1. Players who have pulled out or did not show up after registration confirmation in previous weeks will not be prioritised.
    2. Players who have violated any of the regulations or have not or late done the declaration will not be prioritised.
    3. Players who have not paid will not be selected.
    4. Players who were on the waitlist the week before will have priority (only) this week, unless they are not prioritised for any reason.
    5. Players who have the lowest number of attended sessions.
    6. Players on the same skill level, using a random view on the registrations this week.

The selection is not based on first come first serve as this will not be fair for anyone who missed the initial registration WhatsApp message or is not quick enough in adding the player to the list.

Anyone who have paid gets a fair chance to join the sessions.

The final list of players selected for the upcoming Netball sessions will be published in the Whatsapp groups including the waitlist. Parents and players need to confirm their space with a declaration 48 hours before the session and upon confirmation make payment for the term in case of no balance from payments made earlier.

If players are on the waitlist but cannot make it for the session do have to remove themselves from the waitlist for a smooth replacement process.

Parents need to check the updates in the chat group regularly as the session grouping may change and the private messages from SGNA management on registration updates. SGNA management is not responsible for issues with player’s registration due to missed information by parents.
