Helping Netballers Secure Their Future
At Singapore Netball Academy (SGNA), we are dedicated to helping young netballers excel both on and off the court. Our recent DSA Webinar 2025 was designed to provide parents and players with a comprehensive understanding of the Direct School Admission (DSA) process and how to navigate it successfully.
The DSA pathway offers talented netballers a chance to gain admission into top secondary schools based on their sporting achievements. However, the process is competitive and requires early planning, strategic preparation, and dedication.
Key Takeaways from the Webinar
✅ Understanding the DSA process and what it entails
✅ How SGNA supports and prepares players for DSA
✅ Important factors parents and players should consider
✅ Insights and experiences from past DSA participants
✅ A Q&A session addressing questions
Breaking Down the DSA Process
Step 1: Understanding DSA & Its Requirements
DSA allows early admission based on sports talent, but academic performance still matters.
The process can be stressful and requires commitment from both players and parents.
A successful DSA applicant must commit to netball for four years at the chosen school.
We shared insights on the benefits, challenges, and expectations of the DSA process.
Step 2: Exploring School Options
Different schools have varying selection criteria, some focus on competition results, while others value leadership and teamwork.
Parents and players should research school websites and attend DSA information sessions to understand each school's culture and expectations.
Step 3: Selecting the Right Schools
Students can apply to up to three schools through the MOE DSA-Sec portal (May–June).
Strategic selection is essential, players should aim for schools that match their netball abilities and academic performance.
Step 4: Shortlisting & Selection Process
Schools will notify shortlisted applicants between June and September for trials and interviews.
Beyond netball skills, selectors assess teamwork, attitude, and character.
Step 5: Selection & Submission
By late September, schools will announce DSA offers.
Students submit their final school preferences in October via the MOE portal.
Key Considerations for Parents & Players
✔ Select three schools that align with your child’s aspirations and abilities.
✔ Even with a DSA offer, students must meet the school’s PSLE cut-off score, so choose schools with different academic cut-off requirements.
✔ DSA requires a four-year commitment—transferring schools is not permitted after acceptance.
